In determining how to get to where we need to be, in order to leave a livable planet for everyone’s children, there is one, and only one, way in which we may still have time to make a difference. For those who may feel discomfort at the thought of there being only one way to fix all of the things that are broken, I suggest trying to be more grateful that there is a way that may still work, if it’s implemented in time. Because of feedback loops associated with rapidly disappearing boreal forests & marine phytoplankton, the window of opportunity for mankind having a meaningful effect is closing at an accelerating rate.
Time is the limiting factor in the equation of survival. "Non-linear extinction level events" threaten our moment to moment existence, and the future of everyone’s children. Uniting behind a solution is all that’s need3d, but it’s needed now. The ecosystem is collapsing. Irreversible systemic collapse is inevitable if humans don’t recognize the true, essential, "strategic" & sacred values of Cannabis - both "industrial hemp" and "marijuana," feral hybrids & ancient heirloom landrace varieties.
Mankind’s first priority in the process of healing Earth’s atmosphere is to replenish the stratosphere with atmospheric aerosol terpenes. Terpenes block increasing solar UV-B radiation. The same field yields complete nutrition, herbal therapeutics, building materials and clean, carbon-negative energy, all from the same harvest.
Cannabis is mankind’s functional interface with the Natural Order. The amount of time it takes for people to understand why that’s true will determine the chances for everyone’s children's quality of life over the coming difficult years of environmental, economic & social upheaval. The sooner we implement a Cannabis-inclusive, truly free market, the better life will be for our kids & all of the other creatures with whom we share the Earth. Mankind has always been far beyond our rightful authority in legislating scarcity of an unique and essential natural resource upon which other species also depend for their survival.
If we are successful in sequestering carbon out of the atmosphere without first replenish the stratosphere with terpenes, we will broil the Earth to extinction. Atmospheric carbon shades the Earth. Without the volume of terpenes historically produced by the boreal forests and marine phytoplankton, and the "global dimming" effect of the CO2, "Global Broiling” by UV-B will cauterize the surface of the planet.
